The Purge: Election Year.

I liked it. The Purge series is so unique because it's a mix of horror, action, sci-fi and politics.

I'm fascinated by the setup. It's not too far-fetched. Rising crime caused by a long economic downturn resulted in the rise of right-wing extremists known as the New Founding Fathers. They shrewdly held on to their power by appealing to the bloodlust in people. One night a year you get to PURGE. The rich profited handsomely from insurance and weapons sales. They were also able to use the purge to eliminate economic undesirables like the poor, homeless and immigrants as well as seize coveted property by murdering its owners. But greed has its consequences. More and more folks grew tired of paying outrageous insurance premiums and security contracts to survive purge night. So the idea of the purge is threatened.
I've heard a fourth movie might serve as both a prequel and a sequel. Showing the origins of the purge as well as a future civil war where everyone's fighting openly to murder each other.
