My brother-in-law posted a picture on Facebook of my nephew in a too-too. I reshared it, joking that he inherited my drag DNA. My sister and brother-in-law then called me angry, demanding that I take it down before his friends and family saw it.

I get it. They didn't want him getting bullied. But it still hurts. The hardest part of homophobia isn't when a stranger tells you they hate you. Who gives a shit what they think. It's when a friend or loved one backs away.

So sorry. The Lord disapproves.

What if our friends and family saw you? We can't possibly offend anyone!

We don't want your "gayness" rubbing off.
